Road crash kills seven

Seven passengers of a motorised three-wheeler vehicle were killed and two others wounded as truck carrying goods ran over the vehicle at Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore, police said.

The tragic accident took place at Nawapara Industrial Town on Jessore- Khulna Highway sometime between 7:30am and 7:45am, said Mollah Khabir Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) at Abhaynagar police station.

He said seven people died on the spot while two others were injured.

Of the deceased, five were from Khulna’s Phultala upazila, two from Jessore’s Abhaynagar. 

The five from Khulna are Faruk Hossain, 40, Mantu Karmaker, 40, Gopal Bala, 60, Paritosh Kumar Saha, 55 and Sagir Hossain, 30. The two from Jessore were Tutul Mallik, 35, and Iqbal Mollah, 40.

Of the wounded, Forkan Ali, 35, is from Phultala upazila and Monirul Islam, 40, from Abhaynagar upazila. They were admitted to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex.

OC Khabir said they had handed over the bodies to their kin.
