DU final exam in 24-hour notice!

The authority of TV and film studies department of the Dhaka university has announced to take the final exam of the master's course in a 24-hour notice.

The exam is set to be held on Wednesday and the department authority issued the official notice at 12noon on Tuesday which the examinees said “unprecedented” in the history of the university and “deeply disappointing.”

According to the students of the department, the exam schedule was posted on the Facebook group page of the department.

Students said when they came to see the informal notice in a facebook group post, they could not believe how they could sit for such an important exam in a day notice.

They said such step of the authority suggested the irregularities that the department have been “coupled with.”

They further said: “It was almost impossible for anyone to sit at an exam without getting any prior notice.”

“We are not ready to sit for the exam at the sudden notice.”

However, the Chairman of the department, AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, told Dhaka tribune that everyone knew that the exam would begin on May 27. “We just shifted the exam on June 4.”

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, AAMS Arefin Siddique, said generally the students were given some times before the examination, however, it is the matter of department.

When contacted, an assistant exam controller of the university said: “I never come to know a final exam can take place with a notice announced just a day before the schedule, normally the notice is given at least 7 days before the exams.”
