AKM Shamim Chowdhury, director general of Department of Films and Publications, has been appointed as the Prime Minister’s new press secretary.
The public administration ministry has issued an order on Tuesday appointing him as the press secretary to the prime minister in a deputation appointment.
Shamim has also served as the director general of Bangladesh Betar and former principal information officer.
The public administration ministry also issued an order on Monday extending the period of the president’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim Helal from May 26 to the next one year. He was appointed on May 20, 2013.
Ihsanul has worked in the state-owned news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) as chief editor and managing director.
