Guimara thana in Khagrachhari district and Osmaninagar thana in Sylhet district will be upgraded to upazilas.
Moreover, Debiganj upazila in Panchagarh district and Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong district will be turned into municipalities.
The decision has come in a meeting of the National Implementation Committee for Administrative Reforms (NICAR) with Prime Minister and NICAR chairperson Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.
The NICAR has also decided to upgrade Chandraganj Police Investigation Center under Sadar thana of Lakshmipur district to a thana.
Cabinet Division Additional Secretary NM Ziaul Alam has made the disclosure after the meeting.
