Dawn-to-dusk road blockade in Khagrachhari

Update : 02 Jun 2014, 12:58 PM

Leaders of Khagrachhari district unit BNP has called dawn-to-dusk road blockade programme on Tuesday, protesting two false cases filed against 15 of their leaders including district BNP President Wadud Bhuiyan.

The announcement has come from a protest meeting held in the hill town on Monday afternoon.

District BNP General Secretary Abu Yusuf Chowdhury, Organising Secretary Mustafizur Rahman Millat, Senior Vice President Prabin Chandra Chakma spoke in the protest meeting, among others.

BNP leaders criticised the role of police and alleged police have recorded two false cases on May 16, last month at Ramgorh police station accusing BNP men, including its district unit president in connection with attacking, collecting ransom, trying to abduct and stealing from houses of Jubo League men Nurul Islam and Mohammad Faruq on October 10, 2001.

“It’s astonishing that two cases were filed by designing imaginary incidents that happened around 13 years back, they pointed.”

“The cases were recorded to bar Wadud from politics, to satisfy the ruling party leaders and to harass BNP leaders.”

Tougher movements will come if the false cases are not withdrawn by Tuesday,” they threatened.
