N'ganj killing: Final report 'within a month'

The government probe body is expecting to submit its final investigation report on the Narayanganj seven-murder case within a month.

Deputy Secretary for Law Mizanur Rahman Khan, also a member of the seven-member government probe committee, told reporters on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, Mizanur submitted its progress report on the Narayanganj seven-murder case to the office of the attorney general.

After submitting the report, Mizanur Rahman Khan told the journalists: “We have interrogated 329 persons. But we need to interrogate more people. For this reason, we sought four more weeks.”

In reply to a question, he said the investigation was near to end and they did not interrogate any RAB man.

However, he denied to make public the content of the report.

Like Mizanur, erlier in the day, RAB director general and inspector general of police submitted their respective progress with the attorney general's office.

Deputy Attorney General ASM Nazmul Haque received those reports. He also denied to say anything about the report. He said: "I was instructed by the Attorney General Mahbubey Alam not to disclose anything to the journalists."

Meanwhile, ASM Nazmul said CID is likely to submit its report within the course of the day.

Earlier on May 7, as per the High Court directive, the public administration ministry constituted a seven-member probe body to investigate the abductions and killings that occurred in Narayanganj.

On April 27, seven people, including NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam, were abducted from the city. Later, their bodies were found floating in River Shitalakkhya on April 30.
