Dhaka-Pabna highway blockaded protesting killings

Hundreds of people have blockaded the Dhaka-Pabna highway in Dharmapur area under Ataikula sadar upazila protesting killings of three people.

Akram Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ataikula police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that hundreds of people have come on the highway and blocked it at 9:30am on Sunday protesting the killings that took place on Saturday.

Till filing of this report at 10:30am, the blockade was not put off.

A long traffic congestion has been created on the highway due to the blockade, pushing the passengers into sufferings, he added.

On Saturday evening, miscreants stabbed and then shot three persons to death in Pushpopara Bazar under the Ataikula upazila in the district.

The deceased were identified as Sultan Mahmud, Fazlur Rahman and Shamim.

Rashed Ali Masum, organising secretary of Pabna Sadar upazila Awami League, claimed the three persons were activists of the ruling party.
