A man has hacked his wife and daughter to death following a family feud in the district's Siddhirganj area early Saturday.
The deceased are Moina, 26, and her daughter Sopna, 10.
Family members said Moina along with her daughter used to live at her sister's house in Hirajheel area of Siddhirganj. Moina's drug addict husband, Sumon, 28, does not stay in the house. Sumon came in the house on Friday night in order to visit Moina.
Moina locked in an altercation with Sumon over family matters in the night. At one stage, Sumon hacked Moina and their daughter Sopna to death at 3am.
Hearing the hue and cry, locals rushed in an found Moina and Sopna dead. Later, they handed Sumon over to police.
Siddhirganj police station Sub-Inspector Jahirul Haque said: “Upon receiving information, we held Sumon and recovered the bodies of her wife and daughter.”
A case would be filed in this connection, said police.
