‘Critical Mass’ cycle rally organised in Chittagong

A cycling rally was held in Chittagong city yesterday to mark the ‘Critical Mass’ of the city.

The bicycle rally was brought out in the city’s Jamiyatul Falah Masjid premises at 9am yesterday and ended in Sagarika area after visiting different roads in the city.

Sadab Yasir, one of the organisers of the event, said they have been organising the rally on the last Friday in every month as per the Critical Mass practice to create awareness among the general mass about the importance of environment-friendly transport.

After the rally, a stunt show displayed by ten cyclists astonished the audience.

Amrijot Singh, an Indian national who participated in the rally, said he believes that the event would bring not only happiness and harmony to the people, but also refresh their minds.

The Critical Mass originated in 1992 in San Francisco. The cycle tour is usually held in the last Friday every month and has been described as part of a social movement.
