40 BCL members sued in Comilla killing

A murder case has been filed against 40 leaders and activists of Chhatra League in connection with killing of Mp's nephew in the town on Thursday.

The victim, Ahsan Habib Sumu's brother, Habebush Saherin lodged the case with Kotwali Police Station accusing 15 named and 25 unnamed people on Thursday midnight.

The accused are former organising secretary of Victoria Government College Saleh Ahmed Russel,Shahin, Ripon, Shakil, Jakir, Khokon, Shakil, Shahparan, Saiful, Jony, Alauddin, Fahmid, Faisal, Shipu and Ashik.

Earlier on Thursday, Sumu, the nephew of Comilla sadar MP AKM Bahauddin Bahar, has been shot dead in a factional clash of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Government Victoria College.

The college campus sources said the supporters of BCL leaders Rintu and Russell engaged in the clash at intermediate section of the college around 1:30pm over establishing supremacy.

At one stage, the clash spilled out into nearby Munsefbari area.

Several gunshots were traded during the clash, leaving Samu and two BCL men -– Pritam and Priyom –- injured.

The injured were first rushed to sadar Hospital where doctors declared Samu dead.

Of the injured, Pritam was sent to Dhaka as his condition was stated to be critical.
