National Sports Council (NSC) is finally taking some realistic initiatives to facilitate the relationship between District Football Association (DFA) and District Sports Association (DSA) in order to make football run regularly and smoothly at the root levels of the country.
In the 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of National Sports Council held yesterday, the Youth and Sports Minister Biren Sikder pledged to settle the issue between DSA and DFA and said a 10 or 12-member committee will be formed soon to solve the problem. The committee will then have to submit their report and suggestions in two months after which the National Sports Council will take necessary steps accordingly.
Meanwhile, DSA is the only association affiliated to National Sports Council while DFAs were formed according to the direction given by world football’s governing body Fifa in 2008 in order to administer football better across the country.
A distance has always prevailed between the two organisations (DFA and DSA) and as DFA is not recognised by the government or NSC, they face difficulties with DSA regarding many issues like venues and organising tournaments. Most of the local venues are allocated for only DSA and that is why BFF requested NSC for the local venues for three or four months a year to organise football tournaments.
Meanwhile, National Sports Council will send Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) a letter demanding their due of Tk. 500m for gate money and it was decided in the AGM that this money will be used to build mini stadiums in 480 upazilas across the country.
