The bandits have abducted eight fishermen from Tambulbunia area of Dhansagar Forest Station in East Sundarbans on Tuesday evening.
Witnesses said the members of Awal and Harun gang have picked those fishermen up at 6pm for Tk800,000 ransom.
Of the abductees, four are Rabiul Islam, Jakaria, Rasel and Abdul Khaleque.
Dhansagar Forest station Officer Md Abdul Bari said: “We have heard the news. We will inform the matter to the coast guards.”
Quoting witnesses, he said: “The fishermen were abducted while fishing in Tambulbunia canal. Later, they demanded Tk800,000 as ransom.”
