Khaleda: Hasina accountable for RAB's controversial role

Update : 28 May 2014, 01:07 PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be made accountable for the “controversial” role of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members, said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

She has asserted that the incumbent government was responsible for the recent abductions and killings across the country and it was using RAB members for political purpose.

She said: “RAB should be disbanded immediately as it has now become a matter of horror. The anxiety would not be removed from the publics' mind and people would not be able to sleep at night in fear as long as this force is not dissolved.

The BNP will launch tougher movements with the help of the people if the government does not disband RAB,” she added.

Alleging that the government has turned the Rab into a killing squad, she said: “The people are now not safe in the hands of this force. Rab is no longer a national force. Now it has become a political organisation.”

She demanded punishment of the RAB 11 ex-officials, who have been placed on remand in the Narayanganj killing case.
