One held for giving shelter to Nur

The police have arrested one person for allegedly giving shelter to Nur Hossain, the prime accused in Narayanganj seven-murder case, on Tuesday.

Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Mahidul Islam, Jessore Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman and Benapole police station Officer-in-Charge Opurbo Islam confirmed the arrest to the Dhaka Tribune.

However, they gave contradictory information over the arrest.

Mahidul Islam said the arrestee, Moshiur, has been arrested from Benapole. He said: "He is now under the custody of Narayanganj police and being taken to Narayanganj."

But, Anisur Rahman and Opurbo Islam claimed that the accused was arrested from the capital.

According to police, a joint team of Jessore and Narayanganj police held one Kamal, former employee of Nur, from Benapole on May 15 as they found his involvement in Nur's escape.

Later, acting on Kamal's information, the police arrested Moshiur from the capital on Tuesday afternoon, said police officials.

Quoting Kamal, police said Nur took shelter in Moshiur's house in Sharsha upazila on May Later, Moshiur and one Badshah helped Nur to cross the Raghunathpur border on May 3.

Moshiur and Badsha went into hiding after police held Kamal, said Police.

Jessore Police Super Anisur Rahman said: “The police will soon arrest Badsha.”
