Ekram murder: BNP leader Minar held

The Detective Branch (DB) Police of Dhaka has arrested BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar, the prime accused in the Ekram murder case, from the capital's Mohammadpur area on Tuesday afternoon.

Confirming the matter, Feni Police Super Poritosh Ghosh said: “Upon receiving information from Jihad Chowdhury, another accused of the murder case, DB police arrested his cousin Minar from Mohammadpur area around 4pm.

With the help of Dhaka's Feni Somiti President Mostafijur Rahman, Minar provided Tk3 crore to Jahid for buying arms and hiring killers to kill Ekram,” he added.

Feni's Fulgazi upazila chairman and Awami League leader Ekramul Haque was shot first and then burned alive in his car in broad daylight in the town on May 20.

Police arrested 15 persons so far in the Ekram murder case.
