PM's national award on tree plantation June 5

The ministry of environment and forest has finalised the nomination of persons and institutions for the Prime Minister's national award on tree plantation, 2013.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the award to the winner on June 5, the World Environment Day.

The programme is expected to be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on the day.

The ministry has already published a gazette notification in this regard and informed the nominated winners.

The persons and institutions will get a certificate, a crest and cash for the award.

The amount of first prize is Tk30,000, second prize is Tk20,000 and Tk15,000 for third prize.

According to the notification, the Saharghat Ibadatkhana Secondary School of Gangni under Meherpur district will get the only award on category ‘Ka’ which is reserved schools and madrasas.

In category ‘Kha’, Jessore University of Science and Technology won first position while Khulna University of Science and Technology and Government BM College of Barisal will get the second and third prize.

The category ‘Ga’ is reserved for the local government institutes.

Among the local government institutes, Barisal City Corporation, Gowainghat Upazila Parishad under Sylhet and Khoksa Upazila Parishad under Kushtia are getting the award winning the first, second and third respectively.

Among the sectors, corporations, departments and directorates, 66 infantry division of Rangpur area of Bangladesh Army, 7 Border Guard Battalion of Rangpur and Chittagong District Rover of Bangladesh Scouts won the award getting first, second and third positions respectively in category ‘Gha.’

Among the non-government organisations, clubs and voluntary organisations, BA Hamid Trust of Panigati of Dighoia under Khulna, Dabua Khal Water Management Cooperative Society of Raujan under Chittagong and Polli Jagoron of Khadimpur of Alamdanga under Chuadanga won first, second and third positions respectively in category ‘Uma.’

Abdul Bari Dablu of Madaripur of Singra under Natore, Syeda Sarowar Jahan Nasirabad of South Kattoli under Chittagong and Nehar Rokhsana Begum of Brahmapur of Durgapur under Rajshahi will get the award for individual level contribution on plantation in category ‘Cha.’

The Krishibid Upakaran Nursery of Dhaka cantonment, Mayabon Nursery of Gokul under Bogra and Akaba Nursery Jugia under Kushtia will get the award in the private nursery category.

Saleha Khandokar of Sopura under Rajshahi, Rawshan Ara Begum of Harokandi River Research Institute of Faridpur and SA Jahan of Eden garden officers quarter under Dhaka won the award for their contribution on rooftop gardening.

The Dhamoirhat bit of forest under Naogaon, Harinakundu upazila forest gardening center of Jessore and Muksudpur social gardening center of Gopalganj won the award for their achievement for afforestation.

Mohammad Jahangir of Suhilpur under Brahmanbaria, AHM Motaleb of Kachijhuli under Mymensingh and Akbar Hossain Jitu of Rema-Kalenga of Chunarughat under Habiganj will get the award in research and innovation category.
