Two girls who have recently passed Secondary School Certificate examination have been gang raped in Biynibazar upazila of Sylhet.
The assailants broke into the house in Charkhai union and held the family hostage with local weapons on Sunday night, father of the victim said.
“They were about eight people in number. They threatened us with knives and daggers. At one point they tied me and my wife up and pounced on our daughters.”
“I begged them, but they did not spare my daughters,” he said. “I could recognise one of the assailants – Joinul, son of Makdam Ali from Pailgram.”
Biyanibazar police station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad endorsed information of the rape. “The victims were sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital.”
“Police are trying to arrest the criminals.”
Victim's father filed a case with Biyanibazar police station naming a solo accused over the incident. The girls were attending treatments at the hospital.
