Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of Mominul Haque Khoka, cousin of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In a message of condolence, the prime minister recalled the sympathy, affection and support she had received from late Mominul Haque after Bangabandhu's killing in 1975.
Recollecting the memories of his close association with Bangabandhu's family, she said, they passed together the hard time of confinement during the War of Liberation in 1971.
"I have lost a guardian and well-wisher in his death," the prime minister said.
She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Mominul Haque Khoka died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Friday night. He was 81.
The body of Khoka would be brought to Dhaka by a flight of Bangladesh Biman this evening, BSS reports.
He will be buried at Banani graveyard after Zohr prayers on Sunday after namaz-e-janaza on Eidgah ground at Satmasjid road in the city.
He was undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals with different ailments including kidney and heart.
Later, he was shifted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital by a special flight on Friday.
