New device to force vehicles in right direction

Dhaka Metropolitan Police have launched a new device in city roads in a bid to halt vehicular activity from going to wrong directions.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandaker inaugurated the new device named “ Protirodhok” at Hare Road, near the state guest house Sugandha on Friday afternoon.

Poribardhok, a metal spike device which will bar vehicles running from going to wrong directions.

While inaugurating the Protirodhok, the IGP said the initiative will enhance awareness among the people about traffic laws.

“The vehicles coming from wrong directions on the streets violate traffic rules and have increased the risk of accidents, the installation of the mechanical device will help bring discipline in traffic management,” he said

The device has been installed as an experimental basis, he also informed reporters.

DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed and senior officials were, among others present at the occasion.
