A police constable has been killed as a truck ran him over him in Chondra intersection under Kaliakoir upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Gazipur on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Salamat, 45, of Pathulia village in Tangail and a traffic police constable of Gazipur.
Konabari highway police outpost Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam said: “A recklessly driven truck ran him over while he was discharging his duty in Chondra intersection around 7:30am, killing him on the spot.”
Later, police have seized the truck and detained its driver Abdus Samad, 50.
