UP chairman, 50 others injured in Kishoreganj clash

At least 50 people, including local UP chairman, have been injured in a fierce clash between two rival groups over previous enmity in Tarail upazila of the district on Wednesday.

Of the injured, 30 have been admitted to the Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital and the Tarail Upazila Health Complex.

Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tarail police station, has confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “Two groups led by Azizul Haque and Hadis Mia locked into a violent clash with homemade weapons over previous enmity around 10:30am at Gojaria area, leaving 50 people injured including Damiha Union Parishad Chairman Mainuzzaman Nobab.”

The situation is now under control and additional police were deployed in the area to avert any further violence, he added.
