A Dhaka court has sentenced seven people to lifetime imprisonment in a murder case of a mobile trader of Keraniganj.
The court also fined the convicts Tk20,000 each. In case of failing to pay the fines, they have to serve one year of imprisonment.
Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal 4 Judge ABM Nizamul Hoque pronounced the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.
The lifers are Mohammad Jahangir, Saidul Islam, Masud Rana, Salauddin, Mohammad Soleman, Mohammad Jashim and Mohammad Soleman. They are all the residents of Bhawarbhiti village in South Keraniganj.
Of them, Mohammad Jashim is in jail while the fifth accused, Mohammad Soleman is absconding. Rest of the lifers were out of jail on bail.
Earlier, the convicts hit Alamgir Hossain alias Mister on his head with a stick in front of his bother Shahabuddin's house on November 13, 2010 over a feud.
Later, Alamgir succumbed to his injuries at United Hospital in Dhaka on November 17, 2010.
