Poor CNG driver failed to save life of his 8-year old abducted boy

Update : 20 May 2014, 09:37 PM

A schoolboy was abducted and then murdered in the district on Monday.

Siam, 8, was the son of CNG-run auto rickshaw driver Belal Hossain from the Old Bogra area. Siam was a student of Class II at the Power Development Board School. He was abducted on Saturday afternoon.

The abductors demanded a ransom of Tk3 lakh from Belal for his son’s release, when they communicated with him over a mobile phone.

They also threatened him not to disclose anything to the police. Siam’s father paid the abductors Tk80,000 through bKash in the hopes of getting his son back alive. But the abductors still demanded the Tk3 lakh.

However, Belal could only pay Tk10,000 more. Later, he could not contact the abductors any more. He then told the locals about the matter.

Sub-Inspector Anwar of the Bogra Sadar police station said locals became suspicious when they saw a sack floating in a pond in the area. On receiving this information, police went and recovered the sack, inside which they found Siam’s slaughtered body.

Later, police arrested a youth named Sohag in connection with the murder.
