Two policemen have been closed to their quarters after a scuffle with members of Bangladesh Army in Tongi area, Gazipur.
The incident took place after a patrol car of the police hit a vehicle of the army in Tongi on Tuesday morning, Tongi police station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Ismail Hossain said.
“Sixteen covered vans of the Bangladesh Army were headed for Khagrachhari cantonment from Savar cantonment in the morning,” he said.
“A patrol car of the police hit one of the vans in T&T Gate area around 8:45am,” he said.
“An altercation ensued between civil-dressed Seinor Warrant Officer Shahadat Hossain and two police constables Abbas Ali and Babar Ali,” he added.
“At one point Constable Abbas hit officer Shahadat with the butt of his short gun.”
The police superintendent was immediately notified and the two constables were closed to Gazipur Police Lines upon command.
The incident was nothing but a misunderstanding, Gazipur police Superintendent Abdul Baten said.
