Vice-Chairman of the BNP, Sadeque Hossain Khoka, has urged the authority concerned to withdraw all Army officials from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) before dissolving the elite force.
The party's Vice-Chairman made the demand while addressing a protest rally organised by Dhaka city unit BNP on Tuesday afternoon.
He said: “A conspiracy has been hatching to tarnish the image of the armed forces by using RAB in politics. The army’s image has been tarnished severely due to the alleged involvement of three ex-military officials in the Narayanganj killing.”
The BNP leader said: “In such circumstance, RAB’s activities should be stopped and before that the army officials should be withdrawn from the elite force in order to preserve its good image.”
Claiming that RAB's performance in uprooting crimes, was outstanding during the regime of the BNP government, Khoka said: “Now they are being used for political purposes which tarnishes the image of the force.
Especially, the armed force that played an important role in the liberation war, are now killing people and looting money. It is a conspiracy,” he added.
