Police have recovered the hanging body of a six-month pregnant school teacher from her house at Mukulkandi village under Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Hafiza Khatun, 24, an assistant teacher of Maltdanga Government Primary School.
Enayetpur police station Officer-in-Charge Wahedduzzaman said: “Neighbours claimed that Hafiza's husband Shamim Hossain, teacher of Potajia Vaimara Government Primary School, suffocated her to death and later hung her body to the ceiling with the help of his family members.”
He said: “The neighbours aslo claimed that she was killed over family dispute.”
“All the family members, including Hafiza's husband and parents-in-law, fled from the house immediately after the incident,” he added.
The OC said the body has been sent to Sirajganj sadar hospital around 3pm.
