Three alleged robbers have received bullet wounds in a "gunfight" with police in Chhoygoria area in Satkhira early Monday.
The injured are Polash Ahmed, 35, son of Alfaz Ahmed of Chowgachha village, Alamgir Hossain, son of Jamal Gazi of Berbari and Motiar Rahman Sagar, 28, son of Motleb Sheikh of Mikshimil village in Khulna.
Satkhira sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Enamul Hoque confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.
Assistant Police Super of Satkhira Sadar Circle Kazi Moniruzzaman said: “Acting on a tip off, a team comprising of officials from sadar police station and detective branch took position in Chhoygoria area.”
He added: “The robbers exploded crude bombs and opened fire targeting the police when the law enforcers barred them from robbing a Dhaka-bound bus forcing police to fire back.”
At a stage of the "gunfight", the three robbers received bullet wounds while the others fled the scene.
Meanwhile, police recovered an American 9mm pistol and shooter gun filed with bullets and 10 rounds of bullets from their possession.
Later, the three robbers were arrested and admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.
Police said they all are the members of inter-district robbery gang.
