The Detective Branch (DB) of Police have released the female ward councillor of Narayanganj City Corporation two hours after her detention.
Jannatul Ferdous Nila was detained from Hajiganj area after she gave deposition before the high-powered investigation committee around 6:30pm, Narayanganj Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge SM Monjur Kader said.
Later, she was released after interrogation around 8:30pm.
However, Councillor Jannatul Ferdous claimed that she was not picked up by police. “I went to police willingly to give information about the seven murder.”
Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and lawyer Chandan Sarkar along with five others were killed and their bodies were dumped into River Shitalakkhya after they were abducted on April 27.
Later, their bodies surfaced in the Shitalakhya River on April 30.
