Railway communications of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet have been resumed after a five-hour halt on Sunday morning.
Railway sources said a wagon of the Dhaka-bound container train from Chittagong veered off the tracks near Rasulpur rail station in Sadar upazila of Comilla around 9:30am, halting train services on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes, reports UNB.
Bangladesh Railway (BR) Assistant Engineer Irfanul Islam said two trains have left Laksam and Akhaura railway stations around 10am to remove the derailed train.
The Dhaka-bound express train, “Subarna Express,” has been stranded at the Comilla rail station due to the accident, he added.
