Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in separate drives, have seized 8 crude bombs and a pistol, one round of bullets and 3,000 bottles of Phensidyl from Putkhali frontier and Malanchi area in Benapole of Jessore sadar upazila early Saturday.
Lieutenant Colonel Mostafizur Rahman, commanding officer of 23 Border Guard Battalion, told newsmen that acting on a tip-off, the BGB men recovered the bombs and arms in an abandoned condition from Putkhali under Benapole port police station.
However, none was arrested in this connection, he said.
In another drive, 26 Border Guard Battalion have seized a total of 3,000 bottles of Phensidyl.
Two suspected smugglers -- Yanus and Akherul -- were also held.
‘Tipped off, the BGB men made the arrest,’ said Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman, director, 26 Border Guard Battalion.
Two cases were lodged with Benapole port police station and Kotwali police station in these regards
