Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) won the title of the Walton 31st men’s national wrestling while Bangladesh Army emerged as the champions in the women’s section on the concluding day at the kabaddi stadium yesterday.
In the men’s section BGB won five gold medals and two bronzes to top the table. They were followed by Bangladesh Ansar who finished
runner-up with three gold medals, one silver and two bronzes. Jessore finished third winning three silvers and one bronze.
In the women’s section Bangladesh Army finished triumphant with four gold medals and two bronzes. They were followed by Bangladesh Police who won three gold medals, two silvers and two bronzes. Narail was third with one gold and two bronzes.
Dipu of Ansar and Rina Akter of Army were adjudged the best male and female wrestler respectively.
State minister for youth and sports Biren Sikder distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Sirajul Islam - country’s sole agent of Walton Battery was the special guest on the occasion. Additional director of Walton F.M. Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn and wrestling federation general secretary Tabiur Rahman were also present among others.
