A three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the launch capsize incident in Meghna river near Munshiganj on Thursday evening.
The shipping ministry has issued a notification in this regard on Thursday evening, hours after the capsize incident that claimed at least 11 lives.
According to the notification, Engineer and Ship Survyor AFM Sirajul Islam would lead the team.
The other members are chief Inspector of directorate of shipping Shafiqur Rahman and Executive Magistrate Saiful Hasan.
The committee has been asked to submit probe report within seven working days.
Earlier in the day, a passenger launch capsized in Meghna river. At least 11 people, including three women and one child drowned as a passenger launch capsized with more than 200 passengers on board during a heavy monsoon storm on the Meghna river near Munshiganj.
Witnesses said the Sariatpur-bound passenger launch from Dhaka, MV Miraj, capsized in Meghna river due to heavy storm in the afternoon.
The launch was carrying more than 200-250 passengers, said coast guard officials.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan visited the spot and monitor the rescue operation.
