Shishir Morol, a special correspondent of the Bangla national daily Prothom Alo, was injured in an attack allegedly by some unruly doctors of Shikder Medical College and Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi yesterday.
Shishir said: “A group of around four doctors beat up me severely around 8:30am and confined me to a room of the hospital for about three hours when I went there to collect information about its doctor named Saiful Azam.”
Later, they let me leave the place on begging the life from them, Shishir added. “Despite not being a professor, Dr Saifiul Azam has been using the title.”
Shishir claimed that some doctors, reportedly followers of Saiful, got angered when he enquired about the issue and then beat up him mercilessly before the confinement.
Contacted, Asadul Haque Asad, secretary of Shikder Medical College and Hospital, said: “I know nothing about the incident. However, you can contact to Abu Sufian of our Dhanmondi branch.”
The Dhaka Tribune tried to talk to Sufian several times. However, he could not be reached over phone for his comment.
