A group of unknown people, identifying them as DB police, has picked a sand trader up from Bheramara upazila of the district.
The victim, Shafiqul Islam alias Shafi Haji, 44, was reportedly abducted at gunpoint.
Quoting witnesses, Shafi's cousin Upazila Awami League President and also Bahirchor UP Chairman Abu Bakar Siddiq said: A gang identifying them as DB officials intercepted Shafi near Lalon Bridge at 3pm and forcefully pushed him inside a highace micro-bus and left the spot.
'We have informed the police immediately after the incident,' Abu Bakar said.
Bheramara police station Office-in-Charge Parvez Islam said the police were investigating the matter in order to rescue Shafi.
