Police constable killed in road accident

At least one police constable has been killed and two others have been injured as a truck skidded off the road and ran them over on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway early Monday.

The deceased constable Ismail Hossain, 22, hailed from Anantamuchha village of Narayanganj district.

Bhogra police camp In-charge SI Ekramul Haque said: “Six members of Renge Reserve Force (RRF) were patroling the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway on Sunday night. At one stage, two speedy-driven trucks collided head-on and one of those ran the constables over after it was skidded off the road, leaving Ismail, Shamim Mia and Abdul Jabbar injured.

They were taken to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka, where Ismail succumbed his injuries,” he added.

Later, police held Omar Faruk, 20, helper of one of the trucks and seized both the vehicles.

Officer-in-Charge of Joydebpur police station SM Kamruzzaman said: “Police filed a case in this connection on Monday.”
