A student has been killed at Hakimpur village under Dadpur union in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jahid Hossain ,15, son of Mohiuddin. He was a student of Class ix of Ramballavpur High School.
Mosharof Hossain Tarafder, officer-in-charge of Sudharam model police station, quoting the locals and relatives said Jahid had been playing cricket with Mamun, son of Sahabuddin of the village and other local friends.
At one stage, Mamun started a quarrel with Jahid over the game and beat him with a cricket bat mercilessly, leaving him unconscious.
He died while he was being rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Victim's father filed a case with the police station in this connection.
