Around 50 environmental organisations have demanded punishment for demeaning the Bangabandhu family by vandalising the name plaque containing the name of Sheikh Jamal and painting it with black colour on Friday night.
On behalf of the organisations, Iqbal Habib, joint secretary of BAPA, an environmental organisation, addressed the press conference at Chhayanat on Sunday morning.
Rejecting any allegation of involvement in the vandalism incident, he also said their activities were very open and they had a very non-violent approach, work for environmental causes.
In the conference, he demanded the release of the green activist Ishtiaq and called for stopping the harassment to the environmental activists.

They have also hung some banners under the banners of environmental and social organisations.
