Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken responsibility for the treatment of ailing celebrated actor Khalil Ullah Khan.
"I am taking the responsibility for the treatment of Khalil Ullah Khan for his entire life," she announced while addressing the National Film Award 2012 distribution function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital. Earlier, Khalil received the lifetime achievement award from the prime minister. Listening to his miseries, Sheikh Hasina told the audience of the BICC amid thunderous clapping that she is taking the responsibility of the treatment of Khalil, who has been suffering from various diseases for a long time. In this connection, the Prime Minister lamented that it is seen that the country's artists who provide entertainment and inspiration to the nation lead an inhuman life when they become old and do not work. "It is very regrettable," she said. Sheikh Hasina said there is a trust fund of the information ministry from which financial assistance is given to the distressed and insolvent artistes. "But there are many more things to be done for them," she said.
