At least two people have been killed and 10 others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck on Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway in front of Bottoil Ansar Camp on Friday night.
One of the deceased has been identified as Rabiul Islam, 25, son of Farid Hossain, of Hatia Charpara area. Another deceased was identified as the truck helper. But, his name could not be known immediately.
Locals said both the bus and the truck turned turtle when the truck knocked the Dhaka-bound passenger bus from behind in front of Bottoil Ansar Camp in Shohortoli around 10:30pm, killing the truck helper on the spot and injuring Rabiul.
Later, Rabiul succumbed to his injuries at Kushtia Medical College Hospital.
Kushtia Additional Police Superintendent Abu Bakkar Siddiq said: “The truck knocked the bus while it was waiting on the road to pick passengers.”
Fire rangers recovered the body of the helper from under the truck.
