The story of Peter Parker's journey to becoming Spider-Man and facing off Dr Octopus is the bestselling comic book of the decade, distributors say.
Marvel Comics' Amazing Spider-Man#1 was the bestselling comic, in both units and dollars, in over a decade, Diamond Comic Distributors Incorporation said.
The Spider-Man#1 was also one of the top 10 comic books of all time, a statement of the United States-based top comic distributor company, issued on Saturday, said.
Marvel Comics occupied four spots, including the top two, in the bestseller list. The six other spots were claimed by DC Entertainment.
Marvel Comics was also Diamond Comic Distributors' top publisher of April 2014 with 39.27% Dollar share and 41.5%, the statement said.
DC Comics came second in April with more than 23% market share and over 27% unit share.
Other comics that made the top 10 list were Batman Eternal series one, two, three and four, Justice League#29, Batman#30, Hulk#1 and Original Sin#0.
The sales charts were compiled from over a “universe” of over 3,500 comic book specialty shops located in North America and around the world.
Diamond Comic Distributors claims to be the world's largest distributor of English language comic books and pop-culture related merchandise.
