50 weapons seized from Nur's office

Police have seized a total of 50 sharpe weapons, 19 sacks of phensedyl and a huge quantity of yaba tablets from the truck stand of Nur Hossain, the prime suspect of Narayanganj seven-murder case, on Friday afternoon.

Additional Superintendent of District Special Branch (DSB) Zakaria told the Dhaka Tribune: “We raided Nur Hossain's truck stand office in Siddhirganj around 4:45pm and recovered at least 50 local weapons, 19 sacks of phensedyl and a huge quantity of yaba tablets.

We are estimating that more illegal items will be recovered from the place,” he added.

The drive was underway till filing of this report at 5:30pm.

Earlier on May 3, police raided Nur Hossain's house and seized a bloodstained vehicle. Police also detained two people and seized the mobile phone of slain lawyer Chandan Sarker on the same day.

On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Hossain and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker have been abducted along with five people. Later, their bodies have been recovered from Shitalakhya river on April 30.

After the kidnap, Nazrul's wife Selina Islam filed an abduction case against Nur Hossain, vice-president of Siddhirganj thana AL unit, general secretary Hazi Yasin Yasin and four others, on the next day.

Nur Hossain is now in hiding.
