Medical services at the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) have been resumed after three hours halt on Tuesday afternoon following a clash between the students of Dhaka University and intern doctors of the hospital.
Hospital Director and Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) General Secretary Iqbal Arslan has told the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “We have settled the issue with the DU authorities and intern doctors. Now the medical services at the emergency unit have been resumed from 4:25pm.”
Earlier in the day, two students of Dhaka University were injured in the clash that triggered over a trivial matter.
Meanwhile, some 30 students of Shahidullah Hall vandalised the emergency and casualty unit of DMCH.
Later, DMCH interns took position in front of the emergency and casualty unit and locked the main gate protesting the vandalism around 1:30pm, forcing services at the emergency unit to be halted.
