Transport leader killed: Workers call strike in Jhenaidah

The transport workers in Jhenaidah have called a strike in the district protesting the killing of their leader on Monday morning.

The leaders of Jhenaidah bus minibus transport workers' union have called the strike in the morning.

They stopped plying on the roads of the district town which has disrupting the vehicular movement of north Bengal, south Bengal and other areas connecting through the district.

Meanwhile, they also vandalised a number of vehicles at Chuadanga bus stand.

Jhenaidah Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Daud Hossain said: “Law enforcers have brought the situation under control.”

On Sunday, unidentified miscreants hacked the General Secretary of Jhenaidah bus minibus transport workers' union Abdul Gaffar Biswas to death at Arappur area.

Later, his body was recovered from Arappur Baro-bridge area early on Monday.
