A Bangladeshi has been shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) members at Hatkhola frontier under Panchbibi upazila in Joypurhat early Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Jony, 20, son of Anwar Hossain of Shreemantapur village.
Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion 3 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel M Abdur Razzak Tarafdar said: “BSF troops opened fire on Jony while he was trying to enter the Indian territory in order to bring his cattle around 4am.”
“Jony was injured in the firing. He died on way to Balurghat Hospital in India,” he said.
A letter from BGB side has been sent to BSF regarding a flag meeting.
He said: “BSF have agreed to return the body to Bangladesh after post-mortem examination around 12pm.”
