The government would finalise the policy for an online news portals soon, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said.
The minister made this statement while addressing a discussion meeting marking the World Press Freedom Day organised by Bangladesh Online Media Association (BOMA) at the National Press Club in the capital, reports BSS.
Inu said: "Discussion and review on the policy for the online news portals is going on. I hope the policy would be published as early as possible after finalsing it shortly.”
The policy is necessary at this moment as the number of online news portals in the country has increased, the minister said, adding free media is not an opponent of the government, rather it is an associate force.
