N'ganj killing: Police raid AL leader's house

Law enforcers are conducting a drive at the residence of a local Awami League leader, the main accused in the abduction and killing of Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam.

A team of police led by the newly appointed superintendent of police, Dr Khandakar Mahid Uddin, began the raid at Awami League leader and also Ward 4 Councillor Nur Hossain's house around 11am on Saturday, Narayanganj police Additional Superintendent Shahidul Islam said.

“He is the main accused in the case filed over the abduction and killing of Narayanganj City Corporation Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam,” he added.

The panel mayor, Nazrul Islam, was among the six bodies that surfaced in the Sitalakhya river. Nazrul along with the six victims, was kidnapped in broad daylight on April 27.

After the kidnap, Nazrul's wife Selina Islam filed an abduction case against Nur Hossain, vice-president of Siddhirganj thana AL unit, general secretary Hazi Yasin Yasin and four others, on the next day.
