Businessman abducted in Narayanganj
A businessman has been abducted from Sanarpar area, Narayanganj amidst prevailing heat in the district over the recent spate of kidnappings.
Syed Saiful Islam, a local businessman, was abducted on Thursday, Narayanganj Additional Superintendent of Police Shohidul Islam confirmed on Friday.
Lakshmipur Jubo Dal leader shot dead
An activist of the Jubo Dal, the youth affiliate of BNP, has been called out from his home and shot dead in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Ripon, 22, son of Helal Uddin from Lakshmipur Sadar.
Family sources alleged the local gang of a terrorist Shahjahan called out Ripon from his home and shot in Karaitola area around 11pm on Thursday.
Huge Yaba consignment sized in Teknaf
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have sized a fishing trawler with 61,000 pieces of Yaba tablets at Naitangpara area under Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar district on Friday morning.
The fishing trawler was sized with the Yaba tablets worth some Tk1.80 crore around 5:30am.
Munshiganj Jamaat secretary detained
Police has detained nine supporters of the Jamaat-e-Islami including the district secretary during a drive conducted in Sreenagar upazila, Munshiganj.
Law enforcers conducted a drive in Shologhar area around 10:30pm on Thursday upon a tip-off regarding a secret meeting, police officials said.
Abductors held, abductees rescued
Four abductors have been detained and two missing persons, including a tenth grader and another garment worker, rescued from their clutches in Kalihati upazila, Tangail.
The detained were identified as Arshad Ali, son f Abdus Samad from Gazipur, Asadul Islam, son of Nazrul Islam, and Ismail Hossain, son of Borhan in Nilphamary, and Azizur Rahman, son of Shamsul Haque from Rajbari.
Air strike kills 33 in Syria
At least 33 people were killed in an air strike in a market in Aleppo, Syria on Thursday.
Syrian government war-planes attacked the busy market, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Activists in the area claimed 40 people were killed and dozens were wounded, reports Reuters.
Explosion kills 9 in Nigeria
At least nine people were killed in a car bomb explosion on in Nigeria's capital Abuja on Thursday.
The incident took place on a busy road in the capital late Thursday, days before the city is to host a major international economic forum.
The bomb exploded near a checkpoint across the road from a busy bus station, reports AP.
Ukraine renews military draft
