Update : 01 May 2014, 02:23 AM

Police have recovered a body from Shitalakhya river in Kolagachia area of Narayanganj district on Thursday morning.

The body could not be identified immediately, but police suspect it could be the last of the seven people recently abducted in the district.

Bandar police station Sub-Inspector Abu Taleb said: “We are suspecting that the body might be of abducted Jahangir as the hands and legs were tied up the same way the bodies of the [six other] abductees recovered on Wednesday were.”

The number of dead bodies recovered from the river has reached to seven on Thursday morning, however it is yet to be confirmed if the body was of Nazrul's associate Jahangir.

On Wednesday, police recovered the bodies of six people who had been abducted from the district earlier.

They were identified as ward councillor Nazrul Islam, Nazrul’s chauffer Moniruzzaman Swapan and associates Liton and Tajul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarker and his chauffer Ibrahim. Nazrul’s associate Jahangir has been missing.

The hands and legs of all the deceased were tied up and sacks of bricks and cement were attached to the bodies.

On Sunday, councillor Nazrul, his chauffer and three associates, and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his chauffer Ibrahim were abducted.
