Update : 29 Apr 2014, 05:14 PM

At least three persons have died and 15 others injured as a train rammed a passenger bus down in the capital's Titipara rail crossing on Tuesday night.

Motijheel division police Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the deaths.

He said two of them died at the spot while one died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The death toll may rise further, he added.

Of the injured, 12 have been admitted at DMCH, said Ashrafuzzaman.

Replying to a query whether any guard was deployed at the rail crossing during the incident, he said: ''I am unaware of the matter. We will investigate the reason behind the accident.''

Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound train from Narayanganj hit a passenger bus of Balaka Paribahan around 9:45pm while the bus driver was trying to cross the rail crossing.
