The cabinet division has directed the authorities concerned to ensure proper management of sea-beaches in the country by forming a separate ‘Sea Beach Management Committee’ to enhance the security measures in sea beaches.
The cabinet division on Tuesday asked the concerned authorities to take necessary steps by issuing an officials circular which was sent to the Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong and Potuakhali districts and police superintendents and other high officials concerned of the country.
At the same time, the educational institutes and others were also asked to inform the ministry of education, ministry of civil aviation and tourism and ministry of information about their or students visit to sea beaches in a bid to ensure security during swimming.
The circular was issued as per-cautionary measure of the government regarding the loss of valuable lives during swimming in the beaches recently.
Earlier, the prime minister ordered the authorities concerned to take steps in this regard.
The premier has already given consent to form beach management committees in the beach areas of the country.
According to the cabinet division officials, the government has taken the initiatives after missing of six university students in Saint Martin beach area while swimming in the sea.
After the deadliest mishap in recent time, the ministry of civil aviation and tourism sent a proposal to the prime minister’s office to form a committee of all beach areas to ensure safety of the tourists.
The officials said, the prime minister asked the responsible authorities to display the time of tidal surges of sea and broadcast the information in the media if possible.
